Welcome! So glad you found my counseling site. I am a true believer in counseling. I love being with people, hearing about their experiences and being able to guide them through their journey. Counseling has definitely helped me with my own.
I’d like to tell you a little about myself and how I got here. I’ve been in the Dallas area my entire life. I went to the University of North Texas and received my Bachelors in Criminal Justice, in 1992. One of my favorite classes was Psychology of the Offender. That truly sparked my interest in counseling. How could I have helped “this” person?! After graduation, I went into the area of Human Resources where I still am today. However, after longing to become a therapist as a profession, I decided to go for my Masters of Professional Counseling at Amberton University and graduated in 2006. I was able to complete my practicum at Timberlawn Psychiatric Hospital, in Dallas, and loved every minute of it. I continued working at Timberlawn during part of my internship but am currently working at Springwood HEB Psychiatric Hospital (Presbyterian HEB Hospital). Currently, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas. I have experience working with adults, children, adolescents, seniors and chemical dependency.
I have experience working with a variety of patients/clients but not limited to the following: Depression, Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Bipolar Disorder, Adjustment Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), sexual abuse or assault, domestic violence, Schizoaffective Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder and Eating Disorders. I specialize in trauma issues, PTSD, sexual abuse, domestic violence, shame and guilt, anxiety and panic disorders. I am also passionate about working with issues such as depression, relationship problems, family issues, adolescents and self-esteem issues. Seeking therapy is a gift you can give to yourself. It can be challenging, enlightening and the best thing you have ever done for YOURSELF!
I welcome the opportunity to meet with you and to help you through your journey. This is a huge step and takes tremendous strength and courage. I am just a phone call away!
